Within the next four years, 10,000 affordable housing units are to be built, according to the Kaduna State government.
At a National Council Lands, Housing, and Urban Development meeting this Monday in Kaduna, Mallam Rabiu Yunusa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, made this disclosure.
According to Yunusa, Senator Uba Sani, the governor of Kaduna State, is developing a plan to build homes in each of the state’s twenty-three local government areas.
He continued by saying that the state has already drawn the interest of a charitable organization in Qatar to build 500 homes for the state’s most needy citizens.
Yunusa emphasized that the Kaduna State administration is committed to addressing the issue, pointing out that Nigeria has a severe housing shortage.
Says Yunusa: “We
