Jigawa State Police Command Apprehends 20-Year-Old Man in Connection with Death of 17-Year-Old Girlfriend, Habiba Samaila
The Jigawa State police command has taken into custody a 20-year-old individual named Abubakar Abdullahi following the demise of his 17-year-old girlfriend, Habiba Samaila.
A statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, revealed that the suspect, residing in Koral village within Garki LGA, was allegedly in a romantic relationship with the deceased. The statement also mentioned that the suspect was reportedly the last person seen with the deceased.
“On August 15, 2023, around 8:00 PM, Malam Samaila, 50 years old, of Beguwa village, reported at Ringim Police station that his biological daughter, Habiba Samaila, 17 years old and residing at the same address, left home on August 14, 2023, around 8:00 PM, and all efforts to locate her were in vain.”
According to Shiisu, investigations unveiled that on the same date, Habiba was spotted with a 20-year-old named Abubakar Abdullahi from Koral village in Garki LGA, who was known to be her boyfriend. Following the information, authorities promptly apprehended the suspect. Subsequently, on August 16th, around 6:00 PM, the remains of Habiba were discovered in a well, her body secured with a rope.
Shiisu detailed that post retrieval, the deceased’s body underwent medical examination at the General Hospital Ringim. A medical doctor subsequently confirmed her passing.
