Barack Obama Boulevard Heading to South Los Angeles

Former President Barack Obama may have a avenue in a predominately African-American neighborhood of South Los Angeles renamed in his honor, stories the Los Angeles Occasions.

Rodeo Highway, not to be confused with Rodeo Drive, the road identified for luxurious items, shall be renamed Obama Boulevard thanks to a vote by The Los Angeles Metropolis Council on Tuesday. President Herb Wesson proposed the potential identify change in 2017 to honor the 44th president, who campaigned on the road at Rancho Cienega Sports activities Middle and Park throughout his run for the Oval Workplace.

Mayor Eric Garcetti introduced the identify change following the vote. “We’re thrilled that Angelenos and guests will endlessly be reminded of the legacy of President @BarackObama when touring throughout L.A.,” he wrote.

Obama Boulevard is not going to be the primary avenue named after the politician. Obama Means is positioned within the Monterey Bay city of Seaside, California.

Wesson celebrated the honour by making a comparability between Obama and civil rights chief Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
