‘Bob’s Burgers’ actor lands in hot water for racist joke

Voice actor H. Jon Benjamin, who’s recognized for his roles on the animated TV reveals “Archer” and “Bob’s Burgers,” is dealing with backlash for a current tweet, which was seen by followers as racist.

“Fast thought for the title of a tea shop- ‘ooh me so attractive, me love you oolong time tea store,’” he tweeted on Saturday.

His “me so attractive” joke, which was a well-known punchline from Stanley Kubrick’s 1987 movie “Full Metallic Jacket,” didn’t land properly. Individuals on social media accused Benjamin of peddling anti-Asian stereotypes.

“Actually disappointing to listen to the sort of racist rubbish from you,” tweeted one person. “I used to be a fan.”

“Ah, the Asian joke. The bottom of the low hanging fruits,” wrote one other person. “Stick with burgers ‘Bob.’”

The 52-year-old actor shortly took down the tweet and apologized a number of hours later.

“Sorry I offended many. I agree this ‘joke’ was lazy and incompetent and formulated shortly whereas making a cup of oolong tea,” he wrote. “The truth that it was a well-known line in a film doesn’t give me license to make mild of the large image stereotyping of Vietnamese individuals and Asian People in normal. I’m sorry I ever made that cup of tea. And thanks for making me understand this in fast order.”
