‘Brace for a long strike’ - ASUU tells members

The President of Tutorial Workers Union of Universities (ASUU), Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, has urged the placing educational employees of the Nigerian public universities to be ready for a long strike because the Federal Authorities is but to indicate any seriousness in saving public faculties from collapsing.

He reiterated to #ASUU members “to be on the watch and put together for a long drawn out wrestle to salvage the College System”. Ogunyemi said this in a Strike Bulletin No 5 despatched to all members of the union and a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent.

ASUU launched into nationwide strike over unfulfilled previous agreements by authorities and under-funding of schooling.

Ogunyemi charged members to stay steadfast “and resolute within the face of intimidation or antics employed by authorities by means of Vice chancellors and Governing councils to undermine the continued wrestle”. Based on ASUU President, “Authorities is but to vary its “hold them speaking” fashion and stance as all of the conferences held up to now with the Minister of Training are but to resolve any of the calls for of ASUU”.
