Deadline studies Kaluuya is in talks to star in Jesus is My Homeboy as Hampton, the revered grass-roots civil rights activist who grew to become chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Panthers group and deputy chairman of the nationwide BPP. In 1969, Hampton and fellow Panther Mark Clark have been killed throughout a raid by a tactical unit finishing up orders from the Chicago PD and the FBI.
Atlanta actor Stanfield
is in talks to play William O’Neal, the person who betrayed Hampton by working with
the FBI. O’Neal offered the group with detailed plans of Hampton’s residence
earlier than the raid happened.
The movie can be produced by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and Charles D. King’s MACRO.
