The highly anticipated 2023 ECOWAS Abuja International Marathon is set to take place on December 16, according to an announcement made by the organizers. Unlike previous editions, this year’s event will include a five-kilometer fun run specifically designed for families and fun runners.
Interested participants have been advised to collect their free registration forms from various locations, including the ECOWAS secretariat, AFN secretariat in Abuja, sports offices across the six Area Councils in the Federal Capital Territory, and the Rugby Football Federation office in Abuja.
The statement further revealed that the half marathon will commence at the ECOWAS secretariat, while the five-kilometer race will begin at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway. Both races will culminate at Eagles Square, where attendees can enjoy additional fun activities and entertainment.
Race Director Gabriel Okon, from Y & T Sports Management, emphasized the importance of using this platform to foster integration among ECOWAS citizens. He encouraged individuals of all ages in Abuja and across the country to participate in this year’s race.
Furthermore, Okon disclosed that there will be a multitude of enticing prizes up for grabs at the event. He expressed his anticipation for runners from various countries across the sub-region, including Ghana, Senegal, Liberia, and Gambia, among others.
