The Plateau State Police Command has taken into custody a 63-year-old individual named John Mahana on charges of sexually abusing two sisters, aged 4 and 8, at Mabel village in Batura Ward, within the Bokkos Local Government Area of the state.
Mahana was presented to the Command’s Headquarters in Jos on Monday, September 4, 2023, along with 25 other suspects who had been arrested for various offenses, including kidnapping, vandalism, rape, and culpable homicide.
During a press briefing, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Okoro Julius Alawari, revealed that Lucky Luka from Mabel Village Butura Ward had recently filed a report at the Bokkos Police Station. The report stated that his two daughters, Retyit Licky, aged four, and Loveth Nehemiah, aged eight, had been playing in the residence of John Mahana, a 63-year-old residing at the same location.
“The said John Mahana deceived them and had unlawful carnal knowledge of the girls. On receipt of the complaint, the suspect was immediately arrested by the DPO, S.P. Agu Oliver C, and his team,” the CP stated.
“Both the suspect and the victims were taken to the Cottage Hospital for medical examination, where it was confirmed that the 4-year-old girl had an abrasion on her upper thigh and a blood-stained vulva with a turn hyphen, while there was proof of penetration in the 8-year-old.”
The police boss, however, said that the investigation is still ongoing.
