Gerald Kamanga Gichohi, a pastor at Victory Centre in Wamunyiri village, Bungoma town, Kenya, is suspected of murdering his wife, Margaret Wanjiku Kamanga, and disposing of her body in a ditch near their residence.
Bungoma County Police Commander, Francis Kooli, confirmed the incident on August 1, 2023. The suspect sent a text message to his younger brother, confessing to the crime and expressing intentions to end his own life.
The text message included details of the suspect’s actions and his plans not to inform his son about his mother’s death until after the exams. He also instructed his brother to sell a piece of land and take care of his son after the mother’s burial.
Following the incident, the suspect allegedly attempted suicide in Nyandurua county but was saved and apprehended by the police. He is currently receiving treatment at a hospital and is being monitored before facing murder charges.
The body of the deceased has been moved to the mortuary for an autopsy.
