The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has refuted reports circulating in certain sections of the media regarding the commencement of bed space allocation for the upcoming 2023/2024 academic session. In a statement released to journalists on Saturday in Lagos, Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, the head of the institution’s communication unit, clarified the situation.
Contrary to the rumors, UNILAG has not yet started allocating bed spaces to students in any of its halls of residence for the upcoming academic session. It is important for students, parents, and guardians to be aware that this information is false and should be disregarded.
To clarify further, the allocation of bed spaces only occurs after students participate in a ballot process. As of now, the balloting process has not commenced, and the date for this process has not been announced. Any information suggesting that payment for hostel accommodation has been suspended is also incorrect, as no payments have been received and no receipts have been issued.
UNILAG’s management urges all stakeholders to rely exclusively on the institution’s official communication channels for authentic information. These include the Information Flash, the UNILAG website (http://www.unilag.edu.ng), and the university’s social media accounts such as @UnilagNigeria on Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, and YouTube. These platforms will provide accurate announcements, notices, and updates regarding fees, policies, or any other information pertaining to the institution.
For specific details on the cost of bed spaces, interested parties can refer to the university’s website.
