The six-month marriage of Mr. Ikechukwu Obiora and his wife, Mrs. Ebere Obiora, culminated in the suspected murder of the latter by the former, making it another tragic day in the state of Anambra.

Our source claims that on March 2, 2023, the incident took place in Otolo Nnewi, Nnewi South local government area of Anambra state.

Narrating further, our source explained that “on the late hours of the 2nd of March, 2023, the family of late Mr. Nathaniel Uzuegbunam in Obiuno community in Otolo, Nnewi received a very sad and heartbreaking news about the death of their daughter, Mrs. Ebere Obiora (Nne Uzuegbunam), who was later discovered to have been allegedly strangled to death by her husband, Mr. Ikechukwu Obiora from Ezi-Ogwugwu community, also in Otolo, Nnewi.

“It was a rude shock to the family, as they have no idea of their daughter having issues with her husband since she got married in August 2022.

And yet, on the evening of March 2nd, at around 7 o’clock, the deceased’s mother-in-law called the deceased’s family and advised them to come over right away because their daughter had slumped and appeared to be dead. When they arrived, they were instructed to proceed to the Nnewi Diocese Hospital (Akwudo), where she had been brought.

“In any case, they hurriedly went to Akwudo, where the Medical doctor on duty confirmed that their daughter has passed on.

“Maybe out of shock or in a desperate bid to get to the root of the situation and clear all doubts, she was again taken to St. Felix Okolo hospital, where it was also confirmed that their daughter was dead.”

An eye witness told WITHIN NIGERIA that her remains were then taken to Akwudo mortuary where it was deposited for embalming.

“Meanwhile, out of doubt that their daughter cannot just slump and die, and considering how pale the body was looking, showing that she must have died a long time ago and not that evening, and also the fact that her tongue was outside her mouth as a sign of someone who was strangled, the family of the deceased immediately reached out to the husband for more explanations.

By and large, when the husband, Mr. Ikechukwu Obiora was reached, he initially denied saying that his wife only slumped and died, but could not give reasonable and convincing explanations on how it happened.

When asked why he did not call his in-laws to tell them what happened to their daughter, until his mother had to call, he didn’t also give any reasonable excuse.

“He was immediately arrested by Policemen and taken to Otolo Police station for more interrogations.

The source revealed that when he discovered that his inlaws were determined to carry out an autopsy on their deceased daughter, he finally confessed to the crime, explaining that he actually strangled her to death.

“Not satisfied with his confession the family of the deceased are currently taking necessary legal steps to bring the murderer to book. He will definitely face the consequences of his actions”

However, all efforts to get the reaction of the Police Public Relations Officer of Anambra state command, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga proved abortive as he was not picking up his calls.
