The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has commended the Court of Appeal’s recent ruling which upheld the decision to remove Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State from office. This ruling affirms the earlier decision of the Tribunal, which had dismissed Yusuf, the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), as the winner of the March 18 governorship election.
In a judgment delivered on Friday, a three-member appellate court panel confirmed Nasiru Gawuna of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) as the rightful winner of the election. Ganduje, speaking to reporters in Abuja, praised the appellate court for its fair and just handling of the Kano state governorship election dispute.
Despite the possibility of an appeal to the Supreme Court, Ganduje expressed confidence in the APC’s ability to secure victory once again. He advised Yusuf against wasting time and resources in pursuing further legal action at the apex court, assuring him of another defeat.
Ganduje acknowledged that it is within Yusuf’s rights to approach the Supreme Court, stating, “There is nothing wrong for them to go to the Supreme Court. We, too, are ready to meet them in the Supreme Court. And inshallah, we will win in the Supreme Court as well.”
