The Chief Registrar of the court, Umar Bangari, has announced that the judgment for the presidential election petition tribunal will be delivered on September 6. In an effort to promote transparency and openness, the court has decided to televise the proceedings live for the public to follow. Access to the court premises will be strictly limited to accredited individuals, including counsel and representatives of political parties. Members of the public are encouraged to watch the proceedings from their television sets.
To ensure a peaceful atmosphere during the tribunal session, staff of the court have been instructed to stay at home on Wednesday, September 6. This measure aims to create a conducive and peaceful environment for the special sitting of the presidential election tribunal petition at the Abuja division of the court. Strong security arrangements have been put in place to manage the entrance of the court and all strategic areas of the court complex.
The election petition is being filed by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP); and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), who are challenging the victory of Tinubu in the February 25 election.
