The Federal Capital Territory Police Command is pleased to announce the successful arrest of Chukwudi Ezirike, a highly sought-after ‘one chance’ kingpin who has been causing havoc on the Kubwa/Zuba highway.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, confirmed the arrest and held a press conference at the command’s headquarters on Friday, October 13, 2023. During the operation, Ezirike’s operational vehicle, a blue Golf 3 car with registration number KWL 536 RZ, was also seized.
Commissioner Garba emphasized that many of the recovered vehicles associated with such criminal activities had tinted windows. Additionally, a thorough police search of the vehicles led to the discovery of an axe, a cutlass, and a knife believed to have been used in the commission of crimes. Three other suspects connected to similar incidents are currently under investigation.
“On October 11, 2023, acting on credible intelligence, police operatives from Byazhin Division apprehended Chukwudi Ernest Ezirike, a notorious ‘one-chance’ kingpin known for terrorizing the Kubwa/Zuba expressway,” stated Commissioner Garba.
“He is currently cooperating with the police to apprehend his accomplice in these ‘one-chance’ activities. Once the investigation is concluded, he will face charges in court.”
In a related development, the command has established the Anti-One Chance Squad to combat the rising trend of one-chance robberies. This specialized unit has successfully recovered ten vehicles suspected to have been utilized in one-chance activities within the FCT.
“Many of these vehicles had tinted windows. During the search, an axe, a cutlass, and a knife, believed to be tools of their criminal trade, were discovered in the vehicles. Three suspects are currently under investigation,” Commissioner Garba added.
“Furthermore, on 11/09/2023, the FCT Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit tracked down and arrested a notorious kidnapper known as Salisu Abdulahi, also known as Gwaska. During the encounter, one of his gang members, Baba Dan Tsoho, was fatally shot by the police, while others managed to flee.”
“In addition to active involvement in kidnapping activities, Abdulahi served as an informant and supplier of provisions to his master, Badume. Badume is a prominent kidnap kingpin responsible for orchestrating kidnappings in Kaduna, Nasarawa States, as well as Bwari and Mpape in the FCT. Abdulahi is currently collaborating with the police to apprehend other members of the gang.”
