Ayodele Fayose, a former governor of Ekiti State, has issued a warning to the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regarding the potential suspension of Nyesom Wike, the minister of FCT.
During an interview on Channels TV, Daniel Bwala, an aide to PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, suggested that the party may eventually expel Wike after he seemingly challenged them to suspend him.
Expressing his views on Channels TV Hard Copy, Fayose advised the PDP to reconsider the possibility of suspending Wike.
In his own words, he stated, “Some people are advocating for a fight with Wike, his expulsion, or removal. I believe that they do so at their own peril.
“When dealing with family issues, even in extreme circumstances or disagreements, the first instinct should not be to drive away a spouse. Wike is a formidable force within the PDP and beyond, and he cannot be ignored.
“To ignore, remove, or fight against Wike would be a grave mistake. He possesses great capabilities.”
Fayose also urged the party to initiate a process of reconciliation in order to restore unity and propel the party forward.
“My advice is for the party to call for genuine dialogue, where everyone can express their thoughts, identify what went wrong, and determine how we can move the party forward.”
He further emphasized that he would never defect to the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I have made it abundantly clear on numerous occasions: the moment I am no longer part of the PDP, I will never join another political party, and I will never become a member of the APC, regardless of their merits or flaws.”
