The death toll from the tragic boat crash that occurred in Niger State on Sunday has risen to 30, according to a statement by the spokesman for the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Hussaine Ibrahim. This includes three male children and 27 women. The affected communities are Gbajibo, Yankyade, Biagi, and Ekwa, all located in Mokwa LGA.

In a conversation with PUNCH, Hussain revealed that many of the rescued victims were still in a state of shock and were unable to communicate upon their arrival in the communities on Monday. Reports suggest that the majority of the passengers onboard the ill-fated boat were women en route to their farms.

The boat, which carried over 100 passengers, capsized on Sunday in Mokwa Local Government Area, resulting in the tragic loss of 30 lives. Fortunately, 30 others were rescued. The spokesman did not provide confirmation on whether more passengers were found alive on Monday.
