British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua has expressed his desire to witness a boxing match between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Joshua, aged 33, envisions them continuing their long-standing personal rivalry, but this time in the boxing ring. He’s inclined to support the Portuguese star, Ronaldo, to emerge as the victor over the Argentine star.
During an interview posted on YouTube, Joshua was asked to name two non-boxers he’d like to see engage in a fight solely based on their personalities, to which he responded with ‘Ronaldo versus Messi,’ thereby bringing one of modern football’s most intense rivalries into a new arena.
When questioned about the potential winner, Joshua stated ‘Ronaldo,’ but he added, ‘I have a great appreciation for both Messi and Ronaldo. Messi possesses incredible vision. I can picture him using bobbing and weaving techniques, utilizing angles, but it would certainly be a tough match. They are both exceptionally skilled.’
Joshua declined to specify a non-boxer he’d want to face in a crossover fight, stating, ‘I have no disputes with anyone.’ When presented with the idea of squaring off against the Portuguese icon, Joshua responded with, ‘No, I have deep respect for Ronaldo.’
