The Labour Party’s Alex Otti has been proclaimed the victor of the election for governor of Abia State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Nnena Otti, the state’s INEC returning officer, announced the results on Wednesday.
She declared Otti as winner of the poll after the result of Obingwa Local Government Area that has been the subject of controversy was released.
According to the result released at the INEC collation centre in Umuahia, Abia capital, Okey Ahaiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated Labour Party’s Alex Otti to polled the highest votes in the local government but Otti garnered the highest votes cast in the election across all local governments in the south eastern state.
