“British Doctor Fatally Attacked in South Africa During Violent Taxi Driver Strikes After Taking Wrong Route from Airport”
A tragic incident occurred in South Africa as a British doctor, aged 40, lost his life while inadvertently venturing into Cape Town’s Nyanga township during a turbulent period marked by taxi driver strikes. The doctor was vacationing alongside two relatives when the unfortunate incident transpired close to the city’s international airport last week.
A spokesperson from the police department confirmed the incident, stating, “Two other individuals in the vehicle accompanied the doctor. As he took a wrong turn from the airport, he found himself heading towards Nyanga. In Ntlangano Crescent, multiple assailants approached his vehicle, and he was fatally shot. No arrests have been made as of now.”

Fury has swept through the city due to ongoing strikes, triggered by law enforcement’s crackdown on illegal vehicles. This unrest has led to protests, with demonstrators hurling stones at cars and buses, and even setting some ablaze, causing disruptions.
The national union of taxi drivers has distanced itself from instigating violence, asserting that some opportunistic elements are capitalizing on the strike to advance their individual protests.
The Foreign Office has issued a statement expressing its condolences and support to the deceased’s family. Additionally, a travel advisory has been issued in light of the prevailing unrest.
