The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has emphasized the importance of the Nigerian Army’s dedication in tackling the emerging security challenges across the country. During his visit to the Army Headquarters on November 6, 2023, Gen Musa urged Commanders and troops to not disappoint the nation in their ongoing efforts.
After receiving a comprehensive operations brief and acknowledging the dedication and sacrifice of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, Principal Staff Officers, Field Commanders, and troops, the CDS stressed that military service is a selfless commitment to humanity and must actively support civil authorities.
Gen Musa called on Commanders at all levels to exhibit focus, commitment, and professionalism in their leadership roles to expedite the restoration of peace and stability. He emphasized the importance of leading by example and providing result-oriented leadership and mentorship to junior leaders within the Nigerian Army.
Furthermore, Gen Musa encouraged the troops to remain resilient and promote jointness and inter-agency cooperation in their operations to effectively mitigate security challenges. He assured the troops of the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, and expressed gratitude for the President’s interventions since assuming office.
“We have a responsibility ahead of us, and we cannot afford to let our country down. We have the support of Mr President and the entire nation,” reiterated the Defence Chief. He urged the troops to support the lead agency in the upcoming elections and strictly adhere to the codes of conduct that guide their roles during polls.
