In the Kogi State governorship election, Dino Melaye, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has emerged as the winner in his polling unit. With a total of 210 votes, Melaye convincingly defeated his main rival, Ahmed Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received only 22 votes. Leke Abejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) finished third with a distant 7 votes.
Other candidates from various political parties, including the National Rescue Movement, People’s Redemption Party, African Democratic Party, and Social Democratic Party, received a minimal number of votes. It is worth noting that Melaye had previously expressed concerns regarding alleged irregularities in the electoral process, particularly highlighting pre-filled result sheets at polling units in Ogori/Magongo local government areas.
