Peter Obi has praised the Eko Hotel and Suites personnel for returning a customer’s forgotten N55 million ($70,000).
The missing money was reportedly discovered by Ms. Kekwaaru Ngozi Mary, a member of the Eko Hotel staff.
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s nominee for president, praised Ngozi Mary, a member of the staff at the Eko Hotel in Lagos, who found $70,000 that had been misplaced by a patron.
The former governor of Anambra State urged for the woman to be honored by the government on Twitter on Saturday, saying she deserves a national honor and recognition.
He said it was heartwarming and reassuring that Mary returned the money to its owner despite the hardship and the prevailing moral decadence in the nation.
According to him, it is people like Mary that deserve a national award instead of celebrating those who have impacted negatively on the nation.
Peter Obi wrote,
“It is heartwarming and reassuring that despite the hardship in the country and the prevailing moral decadence in society, a staff of Eko Hotel and Suites, Kekwaaru Ngozi Mary, was reported to have returned a misplaced sum of $70,000 to a customer of the hotel in Lagos.
“When will Nigeria start celebrating the likes of Miss Ngozi Mary for her honesty and integrity, Teacher Akeem Badru, for winning the 2023 Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Award, and many others like them?
“These are the people who deserve to be given national honours and awards and recognition, instead of celebrating those who have impacted our nation negatively. In the New Nigeria that we desire, these are the kind of people that will be celebrated. A New Nigeria is POssible.”
