Former child actor Evan Ellingson, renowned for his role in the acclaimed 2009 film My Sister’s Keeper, has tragically passed away at the age of 35.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s coroners division reported that Ellingson was discovered deceased in a bedroom at his residence in Fontana, California, on Sunday, November 5, at 11:31 a.m.
The cause of his untimely demise is yet to be established.
TMZ has reported that Ellingson’s father disclosed the actor’s battle with addiction and his passing while residing in a sober-living facility.
Among Ellingson’s most notable portrayals was his role as Jesse in the heartfelt 2009 cancer drama My Sister’s Keeper, where he shared the screen with renowned actors such as Cameron Diaz, Alec Baldwin, Abigail Breslin, and Jason Patric.
Despite not appearing in the industry for over a decade, Ellingson left a lasting impression as the son of David Caruso’s Lt. Horatio Caine in CSI: Miami, and as the nephew of Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer in 24.
According to his IMDb biography, the actor was raised in La Verne, California, alongside his three brothers. He was discovered while skateboarding at a local park, leading to an opportunity to skate for the Vans PeeWee team and subsequently star in a commercial for the Vans Company.
