The Governor of Katsina State, Dr. Dikko Umar Radda, recently visited the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa, at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), Abuja. During the visit, Governor Radda expressed his gratitude to the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) for their support in curbing insecurity within Katsina State.
Acknowledging the importance of the military in maintaining security, Governor Radda advocated for increased funding to empower them in effectively carrying out their duties. He also took the opportunity to brief the CDS on the efforts of Katsina State in combating crime through the establishment of the State Community Watch. This security outfit, comprised of dedicated individuals from the state, works in collaboration with the military to combat criminal activities.
Governor Radda emphasized the need for heightened surveillance by the military, particularly due to Katsina State’s close proximity to Niger Republic. He stressed that increased vigilance would help prevent any potential security breaches.
In response, the CDS expressed gratitude to Governor Radda for his visit and assured him of the military’s unwavering commitment to addressing insecurity in Katsina State and across the nation. The CDS commended the governor for establishing the state security outfit, recognizing its significant contribution to curbing insecurity. He encouraged other states to adopt this commendable initiative, as it would aid in the fight against crime in Nigeria. The CDS also emphasized the necessity for close collaboration between states and the military to effectively combat insecurity nationwide.
