Harry Maguire, a defender for Manchester United and England, has defended Jordan Henderson after he was jeered by England supporters at Wembley during the team’s international friendly against Australia.
Since leaving his position as Liverpool’s captain to join Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League in July for a reputed £700k per week deal, Henderson has come under fire.
Maguire believes individuals who criticized Henderson “aren’t England fans” despite receiving jeers from Manchester United and England supporters.
Maguire stated to Sky Sports on October 18th;
“Respectable English supporters don’t jeer players. Don’t jeer athletes who devote their lives to the game and do everything in their power to ensure that this nation has happy memories and special occasions for them and the country.
