An adorable video captures the moment a 22-year-old Nigerian man who emerged as the best graduating student in a US University proudly represented the country and Igbo culture on the global stage.
The lad identified as Obioma Somtochi Ugorji achieved the remarkable feat of being named the best graduating student at Loyola Marymount University.
In his speech as the university’s valedictorian for the class of 2023, Ugorji delighted the crowd by skillfully showcasing his Igbo background. He put a lot of emphasis on his cultural background and proudly identified himself as being from Nigeria.

During his speech, Ugorji introduced the phrase “Igbo Kwenu,” explaining its significance within Igbo culture. He highlighted that in Igbo land, “Igbo Kwenu” is an expression of endorsement and unity. It symbolizes the collective strength shared by the Igbo people.
In a heartwarming display, Ugorji proceeded to teach the audience how to respond whenever he exclaimed “Igbo Kwenu,” and they enthusiastically followed his lead.
