The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Iliya Umar Damagun, has issued a plea to the people of Imo state, urging them to vote out those responsible for looting their common resources, in order to reclaim their state.
Ambassador Damagun emphasized that Imo state, under the previous administrations of the PDP, had thrived as a peaceful and economically viable state. However, he expressed his regret that the present APC government, led by Hope Uzodinma, had caused severe damage to the state.
These statements were made during the Governorship Campaign flag-off of the Peoples Democratic Party at Kanu Nwankwo Sports Complex in Owerri, the capital of Imo state.
During the event, Ambassador Damagun presented the PDP’s flag to their Governorship candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu. He stressed that the party had brought a message of positive change to the people of Imo state and urged them to seize the opportunity to liberate their state.
Ambassador Damagun affirmed that Senator Samuel Anyanwu possessed the necessary political experience, drive, and exposure to effect positive change for the people of Imo state.
He stated, “Samuel Anyanwu is not only experienced, exposed, and credible, but also has the burning desire to rescue, secure, and recover Imo state from its current dire situation. It is only through your vote that this can be achieved. Imo state used to be known for peace, unity, a conducive business environment, hospitality, and joy under previous PDP administrations. However, today it is associated with negativity due to the current Governor. This is unbearable for the people of Imo!”
Senator Anyanwu, the Governorship candidate for the PDP in the state, promised to liberate the state upon assuming office. He emphasized the immediate need for the construction of rural and urban roads, as well as the improvement of education, revitalization of the agricultural sector, and enhancement of healthcare centers as his top priorities.
Senator Anyanwu assured the people that once in power, he would address the issue of insecurity and engage in dialogue with aggrieved Imo youths who are frustrated and neglected by the current APC government.
He called upon the aggrieved individuals in the state to put their differences aside and come out in large numbers to vote for him and his Deputy, Rt Hon Jones Onyereri. Senator Anyanwu emphasized that their votes would play a crucial role in restoring safety and security to the state.
In the meantime, the Governors of Zamfara, Enugu, Edo, and Delta States, who also serve as members of the National Campaign Council, expressed their condolences to the people of Imo state for the hardships they have endured under an inhumane administration.
They stressed the urgent need for a vote revolution to remove the cruel APC administration and replace it with a compassionate government that can alleviate the suffering of the people. They emphasized that collective action is required to save Imo state from its current decline.
Notable individuals in attendance included the Acting Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara, members of the National Campaign Council, National Working Committee, State Chairman of PDP Engr Charles Ugwu, senators, members of the House of Representatives, ambassadors, and former Ministers, among others.
