An Islamic cleric named Suleimon is currently evading authorities after a special prayer he performed for an internet scammer yielded no results. Hamzat, Suleimon’s elder brother, shared his experience during an interview on Saturday, September 2, detailing the ordeal he faced at the hands of military personnel. According to Hamzat, the military confiscated his vehicle and demanded that he produce his brother before they would release it.
In Ogun State’s Obafemi Owode, an unidentified internet fraudster has reportedly hired army personnel to track down Islamic cleric Sulaimon, who performed a prayer that failed to deliver the desired outcome. These fraudsters, commonly known as “Yahoo Boys,” often seek the assistance of witch doctors, traditionalists, diabolic pastors, and alfas to enhance their luck while conducting scams online.
Hamzat, in an interview with Punch, lamented that military men searching for his brother stormed his block factory located at Bankole Estate in Magboro, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State. They seized his Toyota RAV 4 vehicle. Hamzat revealed that he was the one who introduced the unidentified ‘Yahoo boy’ to his brother, seeking special prayers to improve his luck.
On Tuesday, Hamzat received a call informing him that individuals were at his block factory interested in purchasing blocks. He rushed to the scene and provided the price of his blocks. Suddenly, soldiers entered the estate and approached him, demanding to see him. Confused, Hamzat inquired about the reason for their presence, but they forcibly detained him.
To his surprise, Hamzat spotted the ‘Yahoo boy’ he introduced to his brother, as well as his girlfriend, who happened to be Hamzat’s sister. The soldiers instructed Hamzat to accompany them, offering to drive his car themselves. However, he refused, explaining that he would drive alongside them since he had not committed any crime or stolen anything. The soldiers subsequently took him to the army barracks at Ebute, demanding a sum of N10,000 from him. They also confiscated his car, promising to return it only if he disclosed his brother’s whereabouts.
In response to the incident, an attempt was made to obtain a statement from the military men involved, but they declined a phone interview and requested a physical interview at the Army base in Arepo. Lt Col Ayeni Olabisi, the spokesperson for the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, stated that he would initiate an investigation into the matter. Similarly, the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed that the case is currently under investigation.
