The Adamawa State Police Command apprehended Ayuba Danbaki, an intoxicated individual, on charges of allegedly killing his 2-year-old daughter and concealing her body in a shallow grave.
Hailing from the Rigi community within Ga’anda District of Gombi Local Government Area, Danbaki is said to have committed this tragic act following the child’s mother leaving her in his care at a local establishment where he was consuming alcoholic beverages.
Reportedly, Shiyona Ali, the mother of the unfortunate child, handed over the care of her daughter to him due to feeling overwhelmed by the responsibilities.

Driven by anger resulting from his ex-wife’s decision, Danbaki allegedly led the young child into a wooded area, where he proceeded to fasten a rope around her neck before interring her in a shallow grave.
When asked about his awareness of the repercussions of his actions, Ayuba asserted his lack of knowledge, revealing that a significant number of individuals in his community are unaware of the severity of such a crime.
While being interrogated, the suspect said;
“I killed my daughter, because I became angry as to the reason why her mother will dump her with me at a local joint. I used a rope and tied her neck, dug a grave and buried her. I am married and blessed with 6 children including the deceased. I became angry with her mother’s action. It was a mistake. I drink local beer known as”burukutu”. I want to use this opportunity to advise people not to drink beer because it is not good. It makes someone become useless. In fact, a drunk man sometimes defecate in his trouser, vomit or fall on the ground. It makes you to do something and later regret it”.
Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, CP Babatola Afolabi, has ordered that the case be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the command and for the suspect to be arraigned in court.
