The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested two young men for allegedly attempting to arrange a same-sex marriage in the state.
Hisbah Commandant, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on Saturday, July 22, 2023.
Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa has brought to light a concerning incident involving two individuals named Khalifa and Abubakar. In a video that surfaced, the suspects were seen attempting to kiss each other during what appeared to be a party, leading to suspicions of their engagement in a same-sex marriage ceremony.
However, upon being confronted with the allegations, the accused individuals vehemently denied any involvement in a wedding ceremony. They asserted that the event in question was, in fact, a birthday celebration and not a wedding as claimed.
Khalifa, one of the suspects, came forward to clarify the situation. He explained that he had organized the gathering to mark his birthday, and during the festivities, his friend Abubakar playfully fed him a piece of cake.
