The Lagos State Police Command has successfully apprehended three individuals suspected of being part of a fraud syndicate at Iyana Church Bus stop in Lagos. This commendable action was made possible due to the cooperation and credible information provided by concerned citizens.
The arrested suspects, Orji Chinedu (38), Uche Godwin (37), and Ifeoma Nathaniel (51), were taken into custody on October 9, 2023. They operated by picking up passengers from Iyana Church Bus Stop using a Toyota Camry with the registration number LSD 497 AA. However, their illicit activities came to an end when vigilant individuals recognized their suspicious behavior and alerted the authorities.
Upon receiving the information, officers from the Sabo Division swiftly responded to the scene, apprehended the suspects, and recovered their operational vehicle.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the fraudsters would intentionally initiate arguments regarding the presence of dollars in the vehicle’s trunk. This strategy would prompt unsuspecting victims to intervene, ultimately leading to their exploitation and monetary loss.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest and assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway. The suspects will face legal proceedings once the investigation reaches its conclusion.
