In a commendable operation, the Lagos State Police Command successfully intervened to save nine children who were being subjected to forced initiation into a cult in the Mushin locality of the state.
This significant development was revealed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a Twitter announcement on Thursday, August 10.
SP Hundeyin emphasized that the rescued children, aged between nine and fourteen, were found with distressing incisions on their lower lips, indicative of the initiation process. This alarming incident sheds light on the persistent issue of child exploitation and the insidious activities of cult groups preying on vulnerable youngsters.
The timely action taken by the Lagos Police underscores the crucial role of law enforcement in safeguarding the well-being and future of the younger generation.
“We need to strengthen the family unit! Nine children, the youngest, 9, and oldest, 14, were rescued during/after forced initiation into cultism in the Mushin area of Lagos State. The investigation is ongoing.” he wrote
