The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) conducted a successful rescue operation when its operatives encountered an underage girl loitering around Jibowu under the Bridge.
According to Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, the young girl was discovered sitting alone under the bridge at Jibowu around 7:20am on Monday, October 16, 2023.
“During the course of the interrogation, the young girl, who identified herself as Kemisola Christy, revealed that she had fled from her guardian’s home due to alleged maltreatment. Her guardian resides at 72, Glover Street, Ebute Metta,” the statement read.
Christy further disclosed that her fear intensified after her guardian threatened to harm her by cutting off her hands upon catching her attempting to steal N100 from a purse.
Subsequently, she was handed over to the police officers assigned to Alakara Police Station for additional investigation.
