A tragic incident unfolded in Abuja, as a middle-aged man named Alhaji Tijani Yakubu fell victim to a violent mob that accused him of being responsible for the disappearance of Emmanuel Danladi’s genital. The distressing event took place in Kabusa village, prompting the intervention of law enforcement authorities. The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Haruna G Garba, addressed the press at the police command headquarters in Abuja on October 24, 2023, shedding light on the distressing incident.
CP Garba revealed that the Kabusa division swiftly responded to a distress call and successfully rescued both Yakubu, the accused, and Danladi, the alleged victim. Both individuals were promptly taken to a medical facility to receive the necessary medical attention. Tragically, Yakubu later succumbed to his injuries, as confirmed by the attending physician. However, medical professionals verified that Danladi’s male genital was intact and fully functional, dispelling the initial claims that prompted the violent mob attack.
The Commissioner of Police further disclosed that Danladi, who had raised the false alarm, is currently in police custody. Additionally, two other individuals involved in the mob violence that tragically led to Yakubu’s death have also been apprehended. The investigation into this incident remains ongoing, and upon its completion, the suspects will be arraigned for their actions.
CP Garba also recounted a similar incident in which the police successfully intervened to prevent the lynching of a man named Mathew Michael at Apo Primary School. The prompt response by the Apo division averted another potential tragedy caused by mob violence.
