Renowned Nigerian singer and Afrobeat artist, Seun Kuti, has responded to recent allegations of physical and verbal abuse leveled against him by his wife, Yetunde.
Speculation arose following a viral video in which Seun was seen engaging in a heated argument with a police officer, leading to concerns about the well-being of his wife.
The incident took place on the Third Mainland Bridge and drew attention to the dynamics of Seun and Yetunde’s relationship.
In the video, Yetunde attempted to intervene and calm her husband during the confrontation, but Seun ordered her back into the car, prompting speculation about potential domestic violence.
During a recent Instagram live session, Seun Kuti addressed the allegations and firmly denied any form of assault against his wife.
He emphasised that it is actually he who fears her, dispelling the idea that Yetunde is afraid of him. Anyone who are familiar with Seun’s family can attest to this, he said.
“The most important rumor I must dispel is the one that they said I’m beating my wife. They said I screamed at her to get into the car [in the viral video], and she went into the car… That she is scared of me. My wife is not scared of me. Trust me, if you know anybody that knows us, I’m the one that’s scared of my wife. But my wife respects me,” he explained.
