The second phase of the esteemed Nigeria Handball Premier League’s elite division has been officially scheduled to take place from November 13 to 26, 2023.
In a recent statement, Umar Lambu, the Secretary General of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), confirmed that this year’s Ardova Premier League will be held in Lagos.
The competition is set to take place at the indoor hall of the National Institute of Sports in Surulere and the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Complex at Rowe Park in Yaba, as highlighted by Lambu.
“The overall winners of the Ardova Premier League will be determined at the conclusion of the second phase,” added the HFN Secretary General.
In the men’s category, Niger United currently holds the top position, while Safety Babes dominates the women’s circuit.
This comes after the successful completion of the first phase, which took place in July at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium and Etete Sports Complex in Benin City, Edo State.
A total of 22 teams, consisting of 12 male and 10 female teams, are expected to participate in this year’s league.
This marks the sixth season of the Nigeria Handball Premier League, and it welcomes a new title sponsor – Ardova PLC. As part of the sponsorship, each of the 22 teams will receive an increased preparatory subsidy of 500,000 naira, and the winners will be awarded a prize money of 2.5 million naira.
