Several Nigerians, as well as their Ivorians, have fled their homes in Tunisia in the face of state-sanctioned attacks, taking refuge on the premises of their country’s embassy.
Tunisia President, Kais Saied had earlier accused migrants from other parts of Africa of fomenting crime and violence in the country.
According to reports, president Saied declared migrants from other parts of Africa as pawns in a “criminal plot” to make his predominantly Arab and Muslim nation “a purely African country.”
A few days after his comments, workers and students from Africa in videos making the rounds, were allegedly fired, thrown out of their homes, banned from public transportation and assaulted.
