Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, also known as Nedu, is a well-known media figure in Nigeria who recently made a remark concerning the institution of marriage. Nedu has now apologized publicly to Nigerians for his remarks.
Nedu had taken to social media to express his views on the recent discourse about footballer Achraf Hakimi’s divorce, where his wife allegedly demanded half of his fortune.

In his post, Nedu stated that “marriage is dead” and accused women of turning it into a poverty alleviation scheme.
He further claimed that Hakimi’s wife only married him with the intention of divorcing him and taking half of his wealth after a few years of marriage.
However, Nedu’s comments received widespread backlash from his followers and many criticized him for his choice of words and negative portrayal of marriage.
He said;
“You see say marriage don die? In fact, if people believe anything for marriage before, the thing wey dey go on now with marriage for inside the whole world, people no want enter marriage again. Na most women, some of una, na e dey make some people no want enter marriage because una don turn the thing to poverty alleviation scheme,” he said in part.
Nedu has now openly apologized to people who were hurt by his statement in reaction to the uproar. He explained that his statements had been interpreted incorrectly and that he had not meant them literally.
The media figure apologized for his remarks and acknowledged that marriage is a holy institution with various meanings for many people. He added that his goal was to communicate his thoughts on a particular scenario, not to insult anyone.
He wrote on his Instastory,
“Sincere apologies to those hurt by my Hakimi video.. It’s totally taken out of context.
Regardless I apologize
Na una dey pay me salary so whatever doesn’t sit well with y’all won’t be entertained by me.
