In a significant display of commitment to infrastructure development, the Ogun State Government has commenced the construction of the Sagamu-Papalanto-Ilaro road. This project, undertaken through a public-private partnership (PPP) between Ogun State, the Federal Government, and the Dangote Group, was revealed by Governor Dapo Abiodun during the inauguration of the Abeokuta branch of Providus Bank. The construction of this dual carriageway, which will be built using concrete, serves as a remarkable example of how PPP can be effectively utilized for the benefit of the people.
Once completed, the road will alleviate traffic congestion on the Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu road, providing a vital link between the Ota axis and the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway. The successful implementation of the PPP vision by the Abiodun administration is evident from the influx of industries and investments to Ogun state.
This project, along with the various policies and programs implemented through the ISEYA pillars, showcases the positive outcomes that can be achieved through strategic public-private partnerships when properly leveraged.
Notably, Governor Abiodun highlighted Ogun State’s abundant mineral resources, favorable business environment, and its position as a leading producer in areas such as cassava, poultry, and eggs. Furthermore, he announced the upcoming construction of a Dry Port at Kajola, which will facilitate the direct importation of raw materials for manufacturers, enhance the state’s ease of doing business ranking, and attract more residents to live, work, and invest in Ogun State.
