Troops belonging to the Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA II conducted a successful operation on Sunday, 1st October 2023, effectively dismantling and clearing four notorious camps operated by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and their armed affiliates, the Eastern Security Network (ESN). These camps were located in Ihube, Aku, and Umulolo within the Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.

Throughout the clearance operation, our troops encountered a significant number of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the route leading to the camps. However, due to our superior firepower and tactical approach, the irredentists fled into adjacent forests with gunshot wounds. It was revealed that these camps were used as hubs for perpetuating unthinkable atrocities such as cannibalism, occultic practices, and ritual killings, all intended to instill fear in law-abiding citizens. Numerous fresh and decomposed corpses were discovered during the meticulous clearing process.

Among the notable findings, the houses of two spiritual leaders and herbalists, known as “Dibias,” who hastily retreated, were effectively destroyed. Additionally, the shrine of the wanted terrorist Amobi Chinoso Okafor, alias Temple, where human sacrifices were conducted, was demolished. The Joint Task Force successfully neutralized two IPOB/ESN members while apprehending four others involved in criminal activities.

Significant items recovered from the camps include various denominations of Biafra currencies, a new power bike, four motorcycles, solar panels, POP cements, and a petroleum tanker suspected of being hijacked from hardworking Igbo owners striving to make an honest living.

Operation UDO KA II remains resolute in combatting crime and criminality while strictly adhering to the existing rules and regulations governing its operations. We urge all law-abiding and responsible citizens of the South-East region to actively participate in the fight against these heinous terrorists by providing timely, credible, and reliable information that will ultimately put an end to the insecurity posed by the activities of this terrorist group within the region. Let us not become victims of these sacrilegious criminals, as they continue to desecrate Igboland.
