In response to recent claims suggesting the removal of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary and governorship candidate for Imo State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has clarified that such assertions are entirely false. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s national publicity secretary, emphasized that the National Working Committee (NWC) never entertained the idea of relieving Senator Anyanwu of his position.
The PDP denounced the actions of the group responsible for propagating these falsehoods, attributing their intentions to embarrassing and causing division within the party. Their ulterior motive, the PDP alleged, is to distract both the party itself and its candidate, Senator Anyanwu, along with the people of Imo State, in their collective effort to liberate the state from the clutches of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
It is crucial to highlight that resorting to fabrications, lies, and the propagation of non-existent decisions by the NWC is highly condemnable. The PDP urges Nigerians, particularly its members and supporters in Imo State, to dismiss these baseless claims. Senator Anyanwu remains the National Secretary and the Party’s candidate for the forthcoming governorship election in Imo State, scheduled for November 11, 2023.
The NWC further encourages the PDP in Imo State to uphold unity, focus, and vigilance while resisting any attempts to disrupt the party’s progress. The party must remain steadfast in its pursuit of victory on November 11, 2023, despite the machinations of suppressive forces.
