Banky W has urged the police to follow up on every clue in his continuing investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
Banky added that policies should be put in place to safeguard individuals from bullies.
Bankole Wellington, also known by his stage name Banky W, has made comments regarding the untimely passing of Nigerian street singer Mohbad, also known as Imole.
In a BBC Pidgin interview, he voiced his sorrow at the singer’s mysterious passing.
For the benefit of everyone involved, Banky underlined the significance of a comprehensive investigation.
He said:
“The story of Mohbad’s death is a heartbreaking and sad one, it was terrible what happened to him. There have been two things on my mind, number one his death and honestly they need to conduct a proper investigation for the sake of his wife, his son, fans and associates. I heard that the governor has brought the DSS into the investigation, but they should be thorough with their investigation because the world is watching.”
The singer/actor/politician stressed the significance of comprehensive investigations in order to avoid people making fast judgments on social media in a frenzy.
Afterwards, he begged the authorities to look into both the circumstances surrounding his demise and the abuse he endured while still alive.
“They need to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death and find out what happened. We are all watching closely so it won’t be as though we are all jumping to conclusions, so the investigation is key to finding out the truth about what killed him. It has been a long time since I left the music industry but seeing the way this story has unfolded the past week has been very heartbreaking. Number two the living hell he went through while he was alive because there is no reason under the sun that he had to go through that bullying and intimidation without a hiding place” he added
In addition, Banky recommended putting in place protections to let bullies know that their acts will have consequences. Unfortunately, Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and was buried the next day. Taking into account his early passing and the mistreatment he experienced from his prior label,
Once he passed away, there was a huge outcry for a death investigation. The police came to the call shortly after and started their investigation. His body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, so that an autopsy could be completed. The general public is now anticipating the findings.
