The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has taken into custody an imposter engineer named Felix Anietie Udoh. He was responsible for constructing a four-story building that collapsed in the previous year, resulting in the death of one individual and causing serious injuries to five others.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, revealed this information during a press briefing held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the police headquarters in Ikot Akpsn Abia, Uyo.
“On the 17th of September 2022, a four-story building located at No. 3 Iman Street, situated behind Zenith Bank off Aka road, Uyo, collapsed, tragically leading to the demise of Favour Chukwuemeka Okoro, and the successful rescue of five other individuals,” the CP reported.
“The suspected on-site engineer, identified as Felix Anietie Udoh from Felixzity High Technology Limited, managed to evade capture. However, on the 7th of August 2023, the suspect was apprehended by the Anti-Robbery Squad of the Command. Upon investigation, the suspect admitted to not possessing engineering qualifications but rather being a builder.”
The Commissioner emphasized that legal proceedings will be initiated against the suspect.
