The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has recently delivered its ruling on the case involving Peter Obi and the Labour Party (LP), finding that they were unable to provide sufficient evidence to support their claim of winning the majority of lawful votes in the February 25 presidential election.
Justice Abba Bello Mohammed, who read the ruling, stated that while the political party had made sweeping allegations of irregularities, vote suppression, and corrupt practices that allegedly deprived them of their votes in several states including Rivers, Benue, Lagos, Taraba, Imo, and Osun, they failed to specify the exact polling units where these incidents occurred.
Furthermore, the judge noted that Obi and the Labour Party were unable to substantiate their claims of over-voting against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and demonstrate the actual reduction in their votes resulting from this alleged malpractice.
