Prominent Nigerian Production Designer Pat Nebo has passed away. According to reports, he had been suffering from an undisclosed illness and was bedridden for some time.
Nebo, a Nigerian production designer and art director, played a pivotal role in shaping the visual aesthetics of films such as “October 1,” “76,” “Being Mrs. Elliot,” and “Okafor’s Law.”
He embarked on his career as a production designer in 1993, starting with the home movie “Ti Oluwa Ni Ile” and subsequently contributing to its two sequels in the same year.
In 2009, he made his debut appearance in mainstream cinema as the ‘Marriage Registrar’ in the film “The Figurine.” However, he continued to excel in his role as a production designer in various films, including “Araromire,” “Arugba,” “Alero’s Symphony,” and “Being Mrs. Elliot.”
In addition to his work as a production designer, Nebo also served as an art director on projects such as “The Figurine,” “Phone Swap,” and “Half of a Yellow Sun.”
His remarkable contributions to the film industry earned him several accolades, including the 2017 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award for Best Art Director for his outstanding work on “76.”
