In response to a post by user Gilead, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force, confirmed that the Commissioner of Police in Rivers state is personally overseeing the investigation into the death of a University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) undergraduate, allegedly killed by her boyfriend.
According to reports, a man named Collins was arrested following the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Justina Nkang, a 300-level undergraduate at UNIPORT. The incident took place along NTA Road, Mgbuoba in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Justina, a Biological Chemistry student, was reported missing four days prior to the discovery of her decomposing and mutilated remains in her boyfriend’s apartment. She had visited him after completing her Industrial Training attachment at a private hospital in the D/Line axis of Port Harcourt, where she was last seen.
The nature of the crime suggests that Justina may have been murdered for ritual purposes, as her breast, eyes, and other sensitive parts of her body were mutilated. The Rivers State Police Commissioner is fully committed to investigating this heinous act.
In response to concerned users, Adejobi assured that the matter is currently under investigation. He stated, “This is a tragic incident. The Commissioner of Police in Rivers state is personally handling this case, and he will address it soon. Rest assured, justice will be served. Thank you.”
