Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has issued a two-day ultimatum for traders to vacate the red line rail tracks at Agege, in a bid to prioritize safety. This announcement was made during the governor’s visit to the ongoing red line rail project, as captured in a video shared by the Senior Special Assistant on new media to the governor, Jubril Gawat.
During his visit to the Agege Station, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the need to wall off the entire rail tracks for transportation purposes, rather than allowing them to be used for markets. He expressed concern for the safety of the traders and the general public once the trains commence operations, stating that the tracks will be regularly used by the trains.
Earlier this month, Governor Sanwo-Olu inaugurated the commercial operations of the train service in Lagos State by personally riding on the maiden passenger operation of the Blue line rail, from Marina Terminal to Mile-2 Station.
