“Soldiers from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) successfully thwarted an effort to abduct Bishop Paul Zamani of the Anglican Diocese in Sambak Gida village, Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The disclosure was made by Captain Oya James, the Media Information Officer for OPSH, in a statement issued on Thursday, September 14, 2023.
“In line with Operation SAFE HAVEN’s commitment to securing communities within its operational jurisdiction, OPSH troops also prevented the kidnapping of Bishop Paul Zamani from the Anglican Diocese in Sambak Gida village, Jaba LGA, Kaduna State,” the statement stated.
“Upon receiving a distress call, troops swiftly responded to the scene and engaged the kidnappers in a firefight, causing them to flee with gunshot wounds.
Major General AE Abubakar, the Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN, expressed gratitude to the public for providing valuable information that led to the apprehension of the suspects and the prevention of the kidnapping attempt. He assured the public that once investigations are completed, the suspects would be promptly brought to trial.”
