Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, is using her platform to raise awareness about two important causes close to her heart.
The esteemed royal, aged 58, embarked on a visit to Tigray, Ethiopia on Sunday to shed light on initiatives that provide support to women who have fallen victim to sexual violence during times of conflict and war.
Accompanied by a dedicated team from UNICEF, this trip marks Sophie’s latest effort to witness firsthand the profound and widespread effects of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) and gender-based violence.
“The Duchess has long been a strong advocate for the Prevention of Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative (PSVI), as well as survivors of CRSV, and has undertaken numerous journeys to bear witness to their powerful testimonials,” stated Buckingham Palace in an official press release.
