The Super Eagles X handle took to social media platform on Wednesday to announce the invitation of Okoye for the upcoming friendlies.
Initially left out of the 25-man squad released by head coach Jose Peseiro, Okoye’s late call-up comes as a result of Adebayo Adeleye’s travel complications from Israel to Portugal, influenced by the ongoing situation in the region.
Okoye’s previous appearance for the Super Eagles was in an international friendly against Portugal on 17 November, 2022. As a substitute, he witnessed the team’s 4-0 loss to the Portuguese, who utilized the match as part of their preparations for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Presently, the Super Eagles camp already houses 20 players who are preparing for the anticipated friendly games.
